ISOMATEX S.A. is a private company founded in 2005. It is located at the heart of Europe in Belgium, next to Namur 40 km away from Brussels.
ISOMATEX is the global leading producer of enhanced volcanic rock filaments. ISOMATEX’s products are distributed under the trademark FILAVA and are composed of filaments with a diameter of less than 10 microns. The production of FILAVA is unique thanks to a genuine and innovative treatment of the raw material, basalt, which is enriched with various mineral additives to increase and guarantee its original mechanical and chemical properties. The components used in the batch aggregation and the fabrication process are ISOMATEX’s know-how and constitute its exclusive expertise.
Thanks to its innovative approach, its leading edge technological process and its tight quality control, the company ISOMATEX is known in the exclusive segment of high thermo-mechanical performance fibres as the only and therefore leading firm.
ISOMATEX is keen to find the best solutions for each specific application and develops today tailored made fibres / sizing compounds for the most prestigious companies in the segment of high-performance composite materials and technical textiles.
ISOMATEX is a green company, using every possible technology to minimize the impact of its production on the environment: FILAVA is a stable mineral product, completely neutral for the environment and totally recyclable; all exhausts are filtered, all leftover are recycled. All processed water is used in a closed circle, treated and recycled to be re-used. Electricity is the energy used during the whole production process. Altogether this makes ISOMATEX a company without exhaust of any toxic gas and with almost no impact on the environment. ISOMATEX complies with all IPPC regulations (Integrated Pollution Prevention & Control) and with the European rules on the environment.
Contrary to any glass or basalt fibre manufacturers, ISOMATEX uses electric furnaces with many advantages including high melting efficiency, higher melt throughout, no by-products of combustion (mean cleaner melting environment), automatic operation, etc. The melting process, where raw materials are combined at a high temperature for complete dissolution, is the most important manufacturing stage and is a complex process involving different chemical reactions and physical processes between different raw materials and is key to the success of any type of small and medium melting techniques.
